New VISA Rules Make Traveling Easier for Valid Passport Holders

Original Story Published by: Staff Writer for Media Africa

President Mulatu Teshome, addressing the new session of Parliament in Addis Ababa, announced that Ethiopia will be honoring Visa on Arrival to all passengers holding a valid passport from an African country.

The President further announced that the program will be rolled out within a few months as preparations are under way to grant visa on arrival for such guests.

In continuation of Prime Minister Abiy’s ambitious revitalization plans, along with the newly minted Head of Tourism, Ms Lensa Mekonnen, Ethiopia is gearing up to play host to thousands of passengers travelling through Bole International Airport where they will be able to enter Ethiopia on a visitors VISA and explore the Land of Origins.

Four months earlier, Ethiopia became one of the few African countries equipped to issue VISAs online. This process has made it easier for travelers to enter Ethiopia without waiting in line after deplaning or visiting an Embassy in their respective countries to get issued a Tourist Visa to enter Ethiopia as a visitor.

In response to @AlfaAfrican on Twitter, the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff, Mr Fitsum Arega (verified account) confirmed that the relaxed Visa rules will take advantage of the travelers flying on Ethiopian Airlines and give them the opportunity to visit Ethiopia during their stopover.
