South Africa’s Airline Launches New Daily Nairobi Service

Southern Africa's premier and private airline, Airlink, announced its launch of a new daily service between Johannesburg and Nairobi starting on April 24th.

The airline continues to expand and is set to spread its wings to Nairobi, making it the first private-sector airline to offer flights on this route. Airlink will provide much-needed competition and additional choices for business and leisure travelers.

Airlink has achieved a 95.73% average on-time performance so far, which makes it a first choice for many. Beyond Southern Africa, it will now connect OR Tambo International (JNB) and Jomo Kenyatta International (NBO) airports, which are among the continent's most popular hubs.

Kenya becomes the 15th country in Airlink's comprehensive sub-Saharan route network and its third in East Africa. The service will be operated on the carrier's comfortable and modern 98-seat Embraer E190 jetliners.

Airlink's new service on the NBO-JNB route is in line with last November's agreement by Kenya and South Africa to eliminate trade barriers and strengthen commerce and economic ties by promoting business and cooperation between two significant economies in critical sectors and markets.

It also follows South Africa's removal of visa requirements for Kenyans visiting South Africa for up to 90 days. South Africans do not require visas as well to visit Kenya. Airlink CEO Rodger Foster said in a statement;
