Startups will present their ideas at Nairobi Innovation Week.

The annual Nairobi Innovation Week will take place in March this year, with 100 Kenyan tech startups expected to pitch their businesses to investors.

Organized by the University of Nairobi, this year’s tech startup event has seen partnerships struck with numerous hubs and ecosystem players, and over 4,000 delegates are expected, according to DisruptAfrica.

The fourth edition of Nairobi Innovation Week will take place from Mar. 5-9, with the general theme of this year’s event understood to be “Innovating for a better tomorrow”.

Out of the 100 tech startups that are eventually given the chance to pitch to delegates in March, 15 will be recognized as the best, according to NIW.

The startups involved will receive invaluable exposure, allowing them to practice their pitches and potentially attract investors and funding.

There will also be two cash prizes available, with $10,000+ promised to the winner of the Innovative Award, while the People’s Choice Award winners will walk away with $5,000.

Businesses accepted to feature at the event will include idea, early and growth stage startups.

Nairobi Innovation Week a platform for startup support

Dr Tonny Omwansa, chairperson of the Nairobi Innovation Week planning committee, expressed his organization’s excitement at seeing the event grow into a platform of serious value to the startup ecosystem in the region.
