Ghanaian Plastic Surgeon Launches Philanthropy for Free Reconstructive Surgery

Introducing Dr. Michael K Obeng, a board certified, plastic surgeon based in Beverly Hills, California. Named among “America’s Top Plastic Surgeons” by the Consumer’s Research Council of America in 2011 and 2014, Dr Obeng has delivered excellent results to his famous patients and excelled in his field. Focusing on cosmetic surgery, Dr Obeng perfected his skills and secured positions in prestigious hospitals known for plastic surgery in the United States. Besides working at Cedar Sinai Hospital in Los Angeles, Dr Obeng operates Miko Plastic Surgery Clinic in Beverly Hills, California.

On his philanthropic efforts, Dr Obeng has founded R.E.S.T.O.R.E Worldwide Initiative and serves as the CEO. R.E.S.T.O.R.E (Restoring Emotional Stability Through Outstanding Reconstructive Efforts) provides free reconstructive surgery and related medical services to children and adults with disfiguring deformities from birth, accidents and diseases involving not only the head and neck region, but also the extremities, trunk and breast in Africa. In addition to the surgical contributions, R.E.S.T.O.R.E. also educates local healthcare personnel in Africa and other developing countries on how to execute complex surgeries. Since 2008, over 500 surgeries have successfully been completed through the R.E.S.T.O.R.E project in Africa.

As the efforts of R.E.S.T.O.R.E is a non-profit initiative, donations are collected to help facilitate the surgeries to help those less fortunate. To date Dr Michael K Obeng has donated USD 300, 000 to facilitate R.E.S.T.O.R.E Worldwide efforts. The Foundation is intent on building a footprint of surgical expertise on the African continent through R.E.S.T.O.R.E Worldwide.

In addition to the philanthropic efforts, Dr Obeng’s consultancy, Global Health Solutions, invests in infrastructure for hospital units, securing human resources or personnel and providing medical equipment for hospitals in developing countries. He is an advocate for the underprivileged in the United States by educating patients on safe breast reconstructive surgery options after breast cancer treatment.
